Here are three owl facts that surprised us, and the owl designs they inspired.

1. Owls can turn their heads 270 degrees

That's three-quarters of the way round. Owls have extra bones in their necks, which lets them look behind themselves without moving their bodies.

2. Their eyes can't move

An owl's eyes are long and tube-shaped, not round like ours, so they stay fixed in place. To look at something, an owl turns its whole head instead. That's why the head turn matters so much.

3. Most owls fly almost silently

The front edges of their wing feathers have tiny comb-like edges, and the back edges are soft and fringed. Together they break up the air as it moves over the wing, so there's barely a whoosh.

Wear the owl

Our Creature Creator designed the owl with its big eyes front and centre. The NeuroInk owl is styled from an octopus pattern. Look closer and you'll find it.

The Gem-Eyed Owl Jumper – Women's Relaxed Fit

NeuroInk Owl Jumper – Men's Oversized

NeuroInk Owl Long Sleeve Tee – Women's Fit

New animal facts every Friday on Instagram and Facebook.
